Create A Listing

Thank you for visiting the Rutgers University Off-Campus Housing Service and considering placing a listing with us.

An account is required to place a listing with us, but don't worry, account creation is fast and free. If you don't have an account with us, click here to create one. If you do have an account, click here to log in.

When you choose to place a listing, you first must choose which type of listing you want to place. We have three types of listings:

Room Listing: This type of listing is for people who have one room in a house/apartment to rent out.

Vacant Space Listing: This type of listing is for people who are looking to rent out a vacant property.

Roommate Listing: This type of listing is for people who are looking to find a room to move into.

Room Listing

If you're looking to rent out a room, the next step is to choose or enter a property address. Once you have listed a property with OCHS, that property is saved in our system. Properties do not have to be entered year to year. You have the option, after choosing a property, to keep the house number private until you are contacted by a potential renter. This property information is not shared with the public until you place a listing with us.

Your next step is to choose or enter contact information. A phone number is required to list with us, and email addresses are optional. You can add as many phone numbers and email addresses to our system as you like, and choose which of your contact data potential renters will see. This information is saved in our system and does not have to be reentered year to year. And, again, this information is kept private by OCHS until such time as you place a listing with us.

The next step in listing a room with us is to add features and descriptions to your listing. This information includes information about your property, such as which campus it is within walking distance to, pet policies, smoking policies, the number of bedrooms in the house, the number of bedrooms for rent, the size of the room, the lease length, the lease cost per month, etc.

Once you're done adding your features and description, there is a review page which lets you make sure all of your information is correct. If it is, the next step is to submit and pay for your listing. The Off-Campus Housing office fee schedule can be found here. After you have paid for your listing, it must be approved by the Off-Campus Housing staff. The approval process generally occurs by the next business day.

Vacant Space Listing

The information you can add includes your major, your pet preferences, your smoking preferences, your maximum preferred rent, your minimum and maximum lease lengths, and a description of yourself and what you're looking for in a house.
