Birchwood Terrace Apartments The City of New Brunswick’s Rent Control Ordinance regulates the unit you are considering renting. A “Plain Language Summary” of the ordinance is available for you to see, either from Birchwood or on-line at: Because rent rates are regulated and because allowable increases vary from year to year, apartments of the same size may rent for different amounts. Upon renting an actual apartment, a copy of our rent control registration is available to be seen so that you can compare this year’s rent to last year’s. The regulations of this ordinance make us unable to give an exact rental amount in advance. We can only give a range of what your rent will be based on apartment type. The exact rent can only be determined once an actual unit is assigned. The 2005 prices will range as follows:
The A style apartment consists of a living room, kitchen, one bathroom, one large bedroom, and a room which can be used as a dining room, den, or a second bedroom which has a door and a closet. The A style apartment is suitable for three persons or less.
The B style apartment is the same basic layout as the A style, however, all of the rooms are larger, and the kitchen has an expanded layout, allowing for a larger dining area. The B style apartment is suitable for three people or less.
The C style apartment has an enormous living room with three walk-in closets, a large kitchen, a full size bathroom and a double vanity, and two large bedrooms, one having a walk-in closet as well as a regular closet. The C style apartment is suitable for four persons or less.
The D style apartment has a living room with one walk-in closet, full size kitchen, 2 full bathrooms (one in the master bedroom), three bedrooms, and also a dining room with doors which can be closed to create a fourth bedroom. The D style apartment is suitable for five persons or less. Bottom floor apartments have vinyl tile floor, middle and top floor apartments have hardwood floors. All apartments have gas forced air heating, gas hot water heating, and central air condition. All apartments pay their own gas and electric directly to PSE&G. Average monthly costs range from $75.00-$120.00. Parking is provided for resident upon the purchase of a decal ($1.00). The decal allows you to park in the lot. IT DOES NOT GUARANTEE A SPOT. Overflow parking is on the street, and it does get crowded. There is a coin operated laundry room on premises. We are located approximately ½ mile from the train station and also from College Avenue. There is a university shuttle that picks up at the corner of Louis and Hamilton Street. NO PETS PERMITTED
