Dear Landlord:      I am your tenant. I am applying my security deposit towards my rent pursuant to N.J.S.A. 46:8-19 on account of your failure to comply with The New Jersey Security Deposit Act. For, you did not:

Pay me the interest as required
Invest or deposit the security money in the manner required
Provide me in writing with the information you were required to under N.J.S.A. 46:8-19 within 30 days of when you collected my security deposit:
• Name and Address of N.J. Investment Company, Bank, or S&L Association
• Type of Account
• Current Rate of Interest for the Account
• Amount of Deposit or Investment

Thus, this security deposit is being applied to: all of this month's rent and half of next month's rent. Under this law, I am without further obligation to pay you another security deposit during this tenancy. Additionally, though I know I do not need to tell you this, you are still legally required to fulfill all of your obligations as a landlord to me. Thank you very much for your time.
