Rutgers Off-Campus Housing Service strongly encourages all tenants to rent only those spaces that are in full compliance with municipality codes and regulations. Tenants should always assess security measures (deadbolts, keyed window locks, outside lights) and fire safety precautions (fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and sprinkler systems) before signing a lease.

:: Telephone Service

To establish telephone service, call Verizon at 1-800-427-9977. Setting up your first account consists of 2 steps. First, there is a credit check. Your credit history determines whether or not you pay a deposit. The last step is when you speak with service consultant about the various services, charges, and set-up date. When you order your service, tell the Verizon business office which long distance company you want to use, and they will arrange for you to be connected to that company's network.

:: Cable Service

To establish cable service, there are two companies servicing New Jersey.  Cablevision of Raritan Valley can be reached at (732) 356-1300 for customer service or (800) 333-4857 for sales. Comcast of New Jersey can be reached at (732) 602-7400.
