The Basic Needs Center has partnered with Student Centers & Activities and Rutgers Dining Catering to recover leftover foods from large catered events on campus. Our program is currently active in the College Avenue Student Center.
Leftover foods are first-come, first-serve, and may include hot or cold food items, packed lunch boxes, pastries, desserts, and more. Food will include signage on ingredients and descriptions.
For Rutgers students interested in receiving food from the Food Recovery Table (located on the 2nd floor after approved events), they can sign up to be part of the Discord server here. Here are instructions on how to make sure your alerts are on so you can be notified when food is available.
- Open the Discord app on your phone.
- Tap your Profile icon (the "U" or your avatar) in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap the Gear icon (Settings) in the top-right corner.
- Scroll down to App Settings and tap Notifications.
- Toggle on Get notifications within Discord.
- Tap Get notifications outside of Discord (or System Notifications) to adjust your phone's system settings for popups, sounds, and badges.
